SF folks, listen up! There are few events that get me as stoked as the bi-annual Dear Creatures Sample Sale at ASMBLY Hall in San Francisco.
If you haven’t heard of Dear Creatures, it’s a vintage-inspired clothing label based in LA that also happens to have the prettiest lookbooks. I know by now you’re probably used to going to boutique sample sales and being disappointed by the fact everything is only marked down like $5. But this sample sale is actually a good’un.
Everything starts at $5 and nothing is over $50. I really really want to get my hands on this dress. Shopping time!
Address: 1850 Fillmore Street, SF, 94115 (cross streets: Sutter & Bush)
Dates: Saturday August 1st, 11am-7pm AND Sunday, August 2nd, 12-6pm
Sizes XS-XL, prices are from $5-50
I think at this point it’s common knowledge that I loveanythingwithavintageflair. And sunglasses are such a great way to give a nod to decades past. Aviators! Cat eye! Round! Wayfarer! Pink! Yellow! Tortoise! White! Okay you get the point. When Avenue 32 asked me to share a few of my favorite sunglasses, I had trouble narrowing down, but I tried my best. 😉
I am a 100% believer that sunglasses make you look cooler than you actually are. Put on some sunnies and bam! you look like a million bucks. They’re also awesome when you don’t feel like wearing eye makeup yet don’t want to feel naked. Or if you’re like me and your eyes get irritated from the wind. Oh yeah and they protect your eyes from the sun, which is pretty useful too!
What I love about our current sunglass situation is that vintage-inspired looks are in. For me, they’re always ‘in’ but it seems like they’re really trending at the moment. Cat-eyes and wayfarers will forever be my favorites.
Here’s a guide to help you find the best sunglasses to frame your pretty lil’ face according to face shape. (Not sure what your face shape is? Go here and follow these 3 steps.)
I thinnnnk I’m between a round-shaped and heart-shaped face (the width of my forehead, cheekbones and jaw are all equal, but I definitely have a teeny bit of a narrow chin) which is perfect because my favorite style sunglasses (cat-eye and wayfarer) are the most optimal for my face type. I’m following the fashion rules for my face type without even knowing it! Yay! My absolute two favorites from Avenue 32 are the Vivetta Pink Acetate Round Sunglasses and the Wunderkind Purple Tweed Cat-Eye.
What types of sunglasses are your favorites? Do your favorite sunglass styles match up with the best options for your face type? Which are your favorites from Avenue 32?

Hey guys. I’m kind of dying over these photographs taken by Hana Haley for Mod Dolly’s Summer 2015 campaign. Since Mod Dolly is based in London but the photographs were shot in New York City, the shoot is about a girl who is wandering around NYC while missing home in London. I feel like these photos perfectly embody nostalgia and sweet summer days. You can shop all the looks in these photographs right over here. Apparently their next shoot might take place in Canada?! I’m excited to see the outcome of that.
The weather’s been sooooo incredibly beautiful outside that pool days have been on my mind. And because pool days have been on my mind, of course bathing suits have been on my mind as well. Gotta be lounging by the pool in style, ya know?
I’ve never been a fan of strappy bikinis. I don’t know. I’m not comfortable showing that much skin. That’s just me. Which is why I really love that retro swimsuits are in style. They’re modest but still super stylish. All of Esther William‘s bathing suits have my heart. I really like the classic two-piece in white and red polkadots (it’s actually the swimsuit the model wore in this shoot). The one-pieces are super cute too.
And now I will leave you with the inevitable question: Are you more of a polkadot or stripes kinda gal?
I find my preference varies with my mood at the moment. Right now I’m feeling like more of a polkadot girl (but it really can change at moment’s notice). I can’t wait to hear what type of girl you think you are!
A few months ago, my pal Alexandra posted some behind the scenes pictures of a lookbook she styled & modeled in. I got super excited to see the final photographs and several months later, here they are! The photos were the Autumn Winter 2015 lookbook for new Toronto-based apparel line called ACT THREE. The line is comprised of vintage-inspired dresses which are specially fit for petite women 5’4″ and under.
The Autumn Winter 2015 collection is ACT THREE’s first collection and is inspired by French New Wave films from the 1960s. It is particularly influenced by the style of fashion icon, Anna Karina. Each dress is dubbed the first name of the fashion icon it was inspired by. Some of the names of the dresses are Francoise, Margot, Penelope, Sylvie, etc. It’s really fun to look at the style of the dresses and try to guess which fashion icon it corresponds with.
This season, the line will be sold exclusively in Canadian boutiques Victoire and Coal Miner’s Daughter. Sarah, the owner, hopes to expand further into other areas of Canada and the United States as well as open our own online boutique in upcoming seasons. View more photos in the catalog here.
Would it be way over the top if I used the words feminine, ethereal and dreamy all in one sentence? Perhaps. But there’s no other way to introduce a collection as fanciful as Alyssa Nicole’sSpring 2015 collection.
The neutral color palette is subtle and understated; soft, ladylike and fragile.
Sometimes I think about it and all I can hear
Are the waves
Crashing by me
Reflecting on the tides pulling in
Waves crashing by me.

Nothing says good ol’ California than these photographs shot by one of my very favorite photographers Amber Byrne Mahoney. (I’ve featured her in the past here and here.) I love the loose ’70s theme going on here too. Makes me want to watch The Brady Bunch!
